25 songs that get me through my day

in no particular order...

1. Breathe Me by Sia
Who couldnt like this song? Definately one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in my entire life.
Add to the beautiful sound an amazing video of RK ... www.youtube.com/watch you've got yourself a winner!

2. Little Secrets by Passion Pit
gorgeous song -- gets stuck in your head incredibly easily 'this can be our little secret, no one needs to know we're feeling higher and higher and higher, higher and higher and higher'
no more words can explain how amazing this song is, nor how excited i am to be seeing them live next week.
Would also reccoment 'Moths Wings', 'Make Light' and 'To Kingdom Come' by Passion Pit.

3. Dull Life by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
While i love Zero and Heads Will Roll, Dull Life is definately my favourite off the YYYs new albumn. Mixes slow with fast and chill music with almost rock, all in one song.

4. You and I by Ingrid Michaelson
Short and Sweet. Slow Start and very indie, but becomes inspiring towards the end and the build up in the song is amazing.

5. Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine
Happy song that makes you want to dance and sing. What else can i say?

6. To Build A Home by The Cinematic Orchestra
So, SO incredibly inspiring. This one is a must-have.

7. Let The Drummer Kick by Citizen Cope
Do I Really have to explain myself?

8. Missing You by The Black Eyed Peas
Everyone loves a bit of Pop, and while the whole E.N.D. album is great, Missing You just have that something special to make it stand out.

9. Broken Leg by Bluejuice
Love it. Facelift is great as well - very funny. These came reccomended to me by the best friend. She loves them, and now so do I :)

10. Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet
....duh.

11. Supermodel by Jill Sobule
Clueless anyone?

12. Gotta Have You by The Weepies
Very Cute. And kind of depressing at the same time.

13. Dont Wanna Know If You Are Lonely by Husker Du
As a matter of fact, ANYTHING off the Adventureland soundtrack is amazing. One of the best soundtracks to a movie I've ever seen. Big Star, David Bowie, Falco, Crowded House, Judas Priest, the list goes on and on.

14. Rockaway Beach by The Ramones
So much fun. fullstop.

15. Rio by Duran Duran
'Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand' love it.

16. Lovesong of the Buzzard by Iron and Wine
:)

17. Coming of Age by Milow
Really makes you think about the kind of person you are.

18. Hallelujah by Imogen Heap
*dies* so moving.

19. Daniel by Bat For Lashes
... It grows on you :)

20. Ghosts by Laura Marling
Almost anything by Laura Marling. I love her accent and her beat. Especially Ghosts. Candlelight is good also.

21. Heartbeats by Jose González
*sigh* Lucas and Peyton finally getting together for real (One Tree Hill)

22. Little Bit by Lykke Li
<3

23. Fuck You by Lily Allen
Come on, everyone's got their closet Pop!

24. Might Like You Better by Amanda Blank
... ;P

25. Hey Ya by Obadiah Parker
Acoustic Version of the Outkast song, but much much better.

So... Enjoy? haha I just went through my itunes and picked out the songs that are my favourites, theyre not in an order :)

In memory of family and friends who have lost the battle with cancer; and in support of the ones who continue to conquer it! Post this on your LJ if you know someone who has or had cancer. 93% won't copy and paste this. Will you?

now that i have actually had a day where something interesting happened...
i decided that maybe i should rant and ramble about it here... to a place where it is doubtful that anyone will read it yet i get enjoyment in my rambling.

anyway.
lazy start. left home at 11.30. (gosh don't you love holidays?)
i went into the city and had lunch there with 3 friends (Kayla, Ellie and Sarah)(i live about half an hour away from the city)
lunch and shopping, all the usuals etc etc for a girls day out.

went to magnation - huge 3 level magazine shop that specialises in international magazines and allows me to indulge in my addiction to 'nylon' once a month (best magazine ever.. seriously...guess what got me hooked? seeing kristen on the front cover in march this year, along with the amazing article on her - best article ever, im tempted to scan it so anyone who's reading this can read the article...but seriousl, google image 'kristen stewart nylon' ... amazing photography :) including amazing pictures such as:
)

ANYWAY - got sidetracked...i seem to do that a lot... don't mind me :D
at magnation, browsing magazines, Ellie was approached by this random guy who proceeded to hand her a business card and told her to call him anytime and that he was interested... after he left (abruptly, might i add) we looked down and saw that it was a business card for a modelling agency!
i know i know i know it sounds like im totally making it up but i am NOT even kidding... i seriously didn't even know that this happened in real life! i'd heard about scouters but never seen them! so that was very very exciting! (googled it when we got home, turns out its legit and the guy that gave us the business card was like the head of the company)
oh and i am totally pimping my friend right now - this is a photo i took of her for my art folio earlier this year...
... yeah, i love her <3 best friends since we were 4 (aww i know right?!) ... p.s. i edited it.. obviously this isnt the straight photo i took HAHA

anyway, on with the story...

Sarah had a Denim jacket from Just Jeans that she loved and wanted to buy. It was on sale from AU$90 to AU$30... so... BARGAIN!
There are two Just Jeans shops within 5 blocks of each other. NEITHER of them had it in the size she needed, so we trammed 15 minutes to the closest shop with it in her size, coincidentally, the shop was in a DFO (like a shopping centre)

walked past wittner and couldnt help but go in ... it's a shoe store, what can anyone expect?!
Ellie found the perfect shoes to match her formal dress for at the start of next year, and not only that, but they were marked down from AU$120 to AU$50, but then one of the shoes in that style had a price sticker for AU$36 so they were forced to tell us we could have them for $36 (WIN) (um... no idea about the conversion into any other currency...but you get the gist... they were marked down a TONNE)
but of course, they didnt have her size! they had a 38's and 40's...but she needed a 39.

so the lady in the store called up the nearest one with a 39 and then put them on hold for us...she then gave us directions to get there
and so we got lost looking for the tram stop, it was POURING down rain, we got soaked but then finally found the tram stop...
we took another tram for another 15 minutes and managed to get to the other DFO...
we went to buy the shoes, they had them, they looked good etc etc
went to pay with the eftpos machine and the phone lines weren't working so we couldnt pay by card.
we have about $30 cash combined after a day of shopping so the lady in the store gave us the formerly $120 shoes for $30! it was a total win, getting formal shoes for $30 :)
after all that, we then headed home, taking us about an hour to get back - half an hour tram back to the city, then a half hour bus home.

i was dead.
no joke..so tired.
but it was tonnes of fun :)
love random days that spiral into an adventure or expedition, whatever you want to call it. almost as much fun as getting lost with friends when its raining, you have no umbrella, no hood on your jacket and you're wearing tiny mini short shorts because it was meant to be 24 celcius.
loved it
had fun
thought i'd share.
thoughts? anyone who read this? (probably no one!)
love karina xx

p.s. robyn if you read this... whats an Flist and how do i get to it?
also anyone...how do i do the cute little hearts?

Should some parts of celebrities' lives be off-limits to the public, or is giving up privacy a fair price for being famous?
Celebrities are people just like you or me.
The public should be able to view them at events such as premieres, Award ceremonies etc but their private life should be able to be theirs.
They should be able to walk down the street, go shopping with friends, fill up their car with petrol or buy groceries without paparazzi hounding them and yelling at them.
It is a part of their job to be courteous to their fans, however when it is intruding into ALL of their personal lives its not their job. Their job ends when the event ends.
